The sensible, sustainable use of georesources for the benefit of mankind requires management based on rules and experience. This management also includes taking into account and limiting the possible consequences of unavoidable natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods and tsunamis in densely populated regions, as well as human intervention in the Earth system, environmental and climate change.
